Newsletter: Adjust, Adapt, Attune

Earth school can be a challenging place and in the last two months it has taken us on a ride most of us did not see coming.

This is taking us all into unchartered territory, with it uncertainty and chaos. Chaos when worked with constructively can also be the birthplace for hope and vision for a new paradigm that supports our purpose and what we value at the end of the day.

The global pandemic that has impacted us all in so many different ways is also reminding us of how connected we are. With the uncertainty of the times comes a pause to step away from the structures of our everyday lives. The imposed isolation can be a place of fear and separation or it can give us the reflection we need to drop into what is essential to bring deeper meaning in our lives.

It is important to acknowledge the overwhelm we can feel depending on the hour. Taking in so much information personally and collectively is hitting our sadness and anger for the loss of lives, jobs, security, and what is familiar to keep us feeling safe. Grief and letting go of plans and expectations allows us to rinse and release our feelings. How? Bop a pillow, dance and howl, write your feelings out, move energy through, allow your messiness to be OK. Birthing something new is messy and involves labor.

Give yourself some structure that helps you ground and get stable in a climate that is shifting daily. A dedicated space to practice yoga, listen to a podcast, meditate, a socially distant walk and hug a tree. :) Engage in things that nourish you emotionally and mentally, play games, talk to people that need support and limit how much news we are taking in. Staying informed and staying out of panic to keep our system balanced.

Many of you are having to homeschool your kids which can add another layer of challenge. We are all being asked to up our patience and tolerance capacity and it may be a steep learning curve so being gentle with ourselves is important. In our unique way we are being homeschooled and reconnecting to the subjects that can grow areas in our lives that create more connection to our purpose. When we have tools to navigate our fear voices we can listen to our deepest truth, adapt to our new reality, and begin to restructure. It is important to honor what is crumbling and focus on what needs strengthening as we all go through this collective culture shift.

No one knows how long this will take and it feels like it will be a marathon and not a sprint. I am taking time daily and attuning to what keeps me grounded in truth and connected to joy. When we have a spiritual practice we can hold space for it all. This is a pause that is birthing a new reality. If we can stay out of expectation and attachment to an end date perhaps everyday is an opportunity to BE with what is growing. We need endings to create new beginnings; it is the cycle of life.

Who do you want to be when we emerge on the other side? We often ask what do you do or who do you want to be. Perhaps we ask: What qualities do I want to refine through this process of becoming? How can this time support a reset so when we are back online, our system is upgraded and more in tune. We are in this pregnant pause and yes there will be some pain, if we can reframe it as an initiation to birth something new we take this time as a sacred space to attune to the wisdom of the earth, sun, moon, and stars that live inside each one of us.
